Tom Krochock is an actively performing musician in the Minnesota and Wisconsin areas. Tom’s skills include all genres from jazz to classical, pop to funk, and everything in between. Tom is also an accomplished arranger, composer, teacher, clinician, recording and live sound engineer, and producer. His music has awarded him many honors. In 2002, Down Beat magazine named Tom “best classical soloist.” Krochock also appeared in the 2004 & 2005 Finals of the National Trumpet Competition- jazz division. Tom is the 3 time attendee of the prestigious Henry Mancini Institute for commercial music. While there, he worked with many of the leading musicians on the scene today, and performed and recorded in some of the hottest venues in Los Angeles.
Tom’s performing credits are numerous. He has performed with and backed many of the biggest names in music today. Some of his credits include Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, Patti Austin, Maria Schneider, Christian McBride, Arturo Sandoval, Diana Krall, Gunther Schuller, Eddie Daniels, Lewis Nash, Elmer Bernstein, Roy Hargrove, James Moody, Terence Blanchard, The New York Voices, Wycliffe Gordon, Jerry Goldsmith, John Clayton, Byron Stripling, Bob Mintzer, The Peter Erskine trio, Hubert Laws, Ron Carter, Jorja Fleezanis, Vinnie Coaliuta, Ron Westray, Charley Davis, Patrick Williams, David Raksin, Nestor Torres, Brian Grivna, Michael Lewis, Jerry Bergonzi, The Dave Berkman Quartet, Nachito Herrera, and many more.
The variety of the ensembles Krochock has played in is noteworthy. He has been one of the main soloists and the lead trumpeter for the Down Beat-winning and Grammy-nominee Eau Claire Jazz Ensemble. He has also performed with Pete Whitman's x-tet, the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, and Five by Design. Tom currently plays with the Twin Cities-based R&B/Funk/Soul group the Prophets Of Soul. Tom can also be spotted playing with Twin Cities groups Mick Sterling and the Stud Brothers (retired), The Brian Kinney Band, and High and Mighty. Tom was the associate trumpet in the Lacrosse Symphony Orchestra, and has also performed with the Chippewa Valley Symphony, and as a fanfare extra for the Minnesota Orchestra.
Many of the finest venues have been the site of Krochock’s performances. He has performed at Paramount Studios in L.A., the Beverly Hills Pavilion, Wadsworth Theater, and Orchestra Hall in Minnesota. He has played in well renowned Twin Cities restaurants and clubs such as the Dakota, Brilliant Corners, the Minnesota Music Café, and the Artists Quarter. He has played private functions in some of the classiest venues in Minnesota such as Tournament Players Club, University Club, Minneapolis Club, and International Market Square. Tom has also been a performer at many regional and national conventions such as IAJE, MMEA, WMEA, MENC, and Midwest. Also impressive is the list of recording studios in which Krochock has performed. Studios such as Warner Brothers, Musicians Local 47, Studio M, and Sony Studios.
As a producer, Tom has completed 3 full length albums and has done consulting and engineering work on a multitude of other projects. His arranging skills have been retained by many of the top ensembles in the Twin Cities.
